hello! i’m janice
full spectrum birth advocate
My name is Janice and I am a Full Spectrum Advocate and Photographer. I was born in the Philippines, grew up on Turtle Island in a settler village known as Richmond, BC, and my ancestry is Chinese. I currently live and work on the traditional and stolen shared land and territories of the hən̓q̓əmin̓əm̓ speaking peoples, including xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam) and sc̓əwaθən məsteyəxʷ (Tsawwassen).
My interest in life transitions started when I was a child and grew from a passion for our health and traditional healing practices. After giving birth and becoming a mother myself, my understanding of the significance of this time for families deepened and my commitment to providing informative, non-judgmental, inclusive, anti-oppressive & compassionate care grew.
In my work as an advocate, I am influenced by the belief that how you give birth and how you are born can have a lifelong impact. When caring for people I utilize both my eastern heritage and western training to optimize physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual health. I value the traditional and ancestral knowledge and ways that continue to be practiced around the world and aim to provide culturally affirming support to enable families to feel confident, grounded and connected in their choices and capable in their abilities.
I’d love to get to know you more and invite you to contact me for a free initial meeting to discuss my services further and answer any questions you might have about your upcoming life events.
