Janice Lim was our doula in the spring of 2017! We had a very unexpected birth, on a trip to Vancouver Island, visiting relatives for Easter, and Janice- God bless her heart, came on the ferry to accompany us for that long night of labouring at our relative’s house. I had back labour which was challenging, and Janice’s assurance and presence made me not panic about what I was feeling. She guided me through my contractions so that I experienced them in a much calmer way (I was in a panic), but she coached me in how to labour more calmly. She was attentive to detail and was such a good person to have with us all the way! Oh and she has a good sense of humour, which is needed! Thank you Janice again, we will never forget you! We used Janice to help with our first birth. She was very comforting and gentle. She worked well with my husband, helping coach him through the process and help him help me through labour. Having her at home allowed us to spend more time in labour at home (otherwise I think we would have pannicked and gone to the hospital right away). She was also there to support me at the hospital and make sure our wishes were met. It was fantastic having someone who knew the processes who was on our side and knew our wishes well. I was also very grateful for the postpartum support with breastfeeding. My birthing experience was nearly perfect and I certainly think Janice’s support played a large part in that. I would definitely recommend her.

Where do I even begin with Janice? Right away my husband and I were drawn to her kind and gentle energy. After experiencing a traumatic first birth I was really wanting a redemptive second birth where I felt calm, safe and in control. Janice was well informed and supportive of our choices and truly helped to facilitate the birth I had imagined. She was so patient when my labour was stopping and starting and was there immediately when my daughter decided to stop tricking us and arrive in under 2 hours. Her presence was so reassuring and she knew exactly when to use gentle words to remind me that everything I was experiencing was normal and safe. My birth was EXACTLY what I had always dreamed to have and I feel like I owe a large portion of that to Janice’s support and love. I have used two doula’s now and the difference in care was night and day. She also took beautiful photos for us. After my birth Janice continued to be an unwavering source of support for me when I had breastfeeding struggles due to a tongue tie. She sat with me and helped me to navigate different positions to ease the pain and even offered for me to facetime her in the night if I was struggling. Anybody would be lucky to have Janice supporting them at their birth. I was so inspired by her care that I did my own doula training in hopes of helping other women to feel as powerful after their births as I did after mine. The support I had during and after birth from Janice also made a huge difference in the postpartum transition for me as well. Janice, you are phenomenal and I’m so happy I hired you, thank you for supporting me in my beautiful birth and inspiring me to follow my passion.

Janice was my doula for the birth of my son. We were unsure about whether we would need a doula at first, but having planned a home water birth, we thought it would be a good idea to have someone there for extra support and assistance. I was so happy that I chose Janice, as she was such a calming, supportive and helpful presence. She made me feel comfortable, focused and empowered throughout my birth experience and enabled my partner to be there for me, instead of having to run around grabbing towels and other things I may have needed. I ended up having to transfer to hospital as my labour was not progressing as planned, and she stayed with me the whole time until after the birth, when she went back to our home and tidied up in order for us to be able to bring baby home to an organized house, which was so thoughtful – I am still so thankful for that! She was there to answer my questions whenever I needed. I would highly recommend Janice to other pregnant people who are looking for a calming and empowering presence for their birth experience.

We had our first baby girl on July 18th, 2014. Janice Lim Hing was our wonderful doula. She was amazing. She was a wealth of knowledge and support during my pregnancy. She shared information and researched answers to my million of questions and concerns.
When the time came to have the baby my water broke first and Janice came to my house to support me while I laboured at home. She was calming and so kind to all my needs. My husband appreciated having her with us the whole time as this was a new experience for both of us.
When we made it to the hospital, 36 hours after my water broke, I chose to be induced and the contractions came hard and fast. Unfortunatly I didn’t dialate to the full 10cm so ended up having a c-section in the end. Janice stayed with us the whole time and I needed her so much!
Janice supported both my needs and my husband’s. I recommend her for anyone who needs a caring, kind soul who knows exactly what to say when you need it. I love her!

There aren’t enough words to describe how grateful I was and still am that Janice was my Doula at my first child’s birth. My husban unfortunately couldn’t be part of the birth experience as he was still in hospital himself. Janice helped and encouraged me to have a positive birth experience without any assistance of drugs. All natural and just how I wished for. She is very experienced and knows how to guide you with her calm and very caring personality to experience your birth of your child in the best way. Prior to giving birth she was so flexible to have one of the prenatal meetings in the hospital where my husband was at the time. Whilst I was in labour and struggling to stick to my birth plan, she encouraged me to do so and was also speaking up for me when the doctor wanted to do things in a matter that was an absolute no-no for me.
She was always available to speak to even after the baby was born, to just check in and see how I would get along with breastfeeding and settling in with the little one.
I highly recommended Janice to anyone who wants to have an experienced, loving birth person on your side to make the best of an incredible unique journey!

We had a wonderful experience with Janice as our doula at the birth of our second child in June 2014. She was readily available to answer all our questions and meet prior to the birth at our convenience. She is highly knowledgeable and informed us of our options without pushing us one way or the other. During labour and delivery, she was a calm, positive and nurturing presence. She was not at all intrusive, but stepped in at the appropriate times. We consider ourselves lucky to have had Janice attend our son’s birth and recommend her without hesitation.
Janice worked with me during postpartum and cared for my baby girl when I returned to work (WAY TOO EARLY). She helped make the transition seamless, and completely reduced my stress levels. With her taking care of my baby while I worked I had nothing to worry about. She is organized, caring and completely supportive. Janice and her night doula services came highly recommended to our family by our birth doula after the birth of our daughter. I had experienced an emergency cesarean and my husband was sick with bronchitis – we quickly realized we needed an extra set of helping hands for a few evenings to get us back on our feet. Janice was, without a doubt, superb. She was a calming presence for each of us, and though she would arrive each night at my daughter’s “witching hour,” Janice magically soothed and snuggled her into a quiet slumber in minutes. Janice has a gentle, respectful, and compassionate approach and is knowledgeable about everything from baby-wearing to swaddling to infant behavior and beyond. My daughter is now 10.5 months old and I often reflect on the time Janice spent with our family. Janice provided us with the rest and re-assurance that allowed us to enjoy the early days with our daughter – a priceless gift.
I interviewed a lot of doulas before I selected Janice Lim. Janice sounded perfect when I first spoke with her on the phone answering all of my doula interview questions in a very professional manner. She was well educated about the birthing process having attended several doula courses, practicing being a doula, and had even the good fortune of being able to follow her aunt around who is an obstetrician. She made me feel that I would be well taken care of in her hands. Not only that, she was a mother herself to two lovely girls through natural birth which is what I wanted for my labour process.
During the entire labour process, Janice was always available via phone, online chat, or sms to answer any questions or concerns. She was also readily available to come out to my home or the hospital if and when needed. The entire time Janice provided reading material, alongside exercises to do to help with the labour process. Closer to the time of delivery, Janice provided information on what we will need to make decisions on post delivery in regards to the baby’s care which was really helpful to know about in advance as this was not brought up in pre-natal classes..
